2 Years In: What We’ve Done Since Becoming a B Corp

We officially achieved B Corp certification status in fall of 2023. It’s hard to believe that we’re coming up on 2 years since meeting those high standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. The road to certification was a long one and it took a lot of work to meet the requirements, but certification was not the end of that road. Now we had to live up to it.

2024 was the biggest growth year for RipRap Security so far. We fully launched the Cyber Security For Good grant program, which awarded thousands of dollars worth of structured support to organizations that might otherwise lack access to professional cyber security services. We were so excited to receive applications from organizations both in and outside of the United States.

Altogether, 10.8% of our working hours in 2024 were dedicated to pro bono work, more than double what we pledged when becoming a B Corp. And this year? We’ll surpass the pro bono hours worked in 2024 before we even enter Q4.

On top of that, we are proud that 76% of our paid work was supporting underserved and purpose-driven organizations. In other words, the majority of our business was focused on helping nonprofits protect themselves from cyber threats so that they could focus on doing good.

As a B Corp, we also make a commitment to the environment. We have been measuring and offsetting our carbon emissions since 2022 by partnering with We Are Neutral. Even though we grew substantially in 2024, we were able to decrease carbon emissions 2.5x compared to 2023, primarily through curbing business travel. We understand that growth often comes with a larger carbon footprint, which is why we value our partnership with We Are Neutral. Their work isn’t just about carbon offsets, but is also dedicated to supporting community carbon reduction projects, environmental education, climate change victim relief, and environmental policy advocacy.

As our B Corp anniversary approaches, we’re proud to be a part of a movement of companies committed to having a positive impact on our employees, our partners, our community, and the environment.
